Junior pitcher Paul Hvozdovic (Herndon, VA/Herndon) and senior second baseman Chad Murphy (North Olmsted, OH/North Olmsted) of the Shepherd University baseball team have been named to the 2013 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Preseason All-Region team.

Hvozdovic, a second team selection, posted a 10-4 mark with two saves in 2012. He added team-highs of 91 strikeouts and 108.2 innings. His 10 wins ties a school record, while his 17 starts set a new mark.

Murphy, an honorable mention selection, batted .351 with 60 hits in 171 at-bats last season. He drove in 43 runs and scored 40. Murphy added 14 doubles and four round-trippers.

The Rams, coming off a 33-19 record last season as WVIAC champions, open the 2013 campaign on Feb. 15 when they travel to face USC-Aiken for a 4 p.m. contest.
