Charles Town/Ranson Seniors split two Regional games

After winning another state of West Virginia Senior League (affiliated with Little League Baseball, Inc.) state championship, the Charles Town/Ranson All-Star team had qualified for the seven-state Southeastern Regional in DeBary, Florida.
Charles Town/Ranson was placed in Pool A in DeBary along with Greater Largo, Florida; Martinez Evans, Georgia; and Walkertown, North Carolina.
In Pool B were the state champions from South Carolina (Blue Ridge), Virginia (Dumfries) and Tennessee (Spring Hill).
In its first game in the Southeastern Regional, Charles Town/Ranson lost, 13-1, to Florida. In its second game, the county team defeated North Carolina, 5-3, to even its Pool A record at 1-1.
After two rounds in Pool A play all four teams had 1-1 records.
On Aug. 4, Charles Town/Ranson played Martinez Evans, Georgia and Greater Largo faced Walkertown.
The top two teams from each pool will progress on to the tournament semifinals. The No. 1 seed from Pool A would play the No. 2 seed from Pool B and the No. 2 seed from Pool A faced the No. 1 seed from Pool B. Those two games were scheduled for Tuesday, August 5.
The Southeastern Regional championship game was scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 6.
The survivor of the Regional will qualify for the Senior League World Series later this month.
