Round One: Cougars vs. Patriots on Tuesday
The annual rite of spring has been concluded.
Both Jefferson and Washington have returned from their week-long baseball trips to Myrtle Beach.
And the positioning for the Sectional Tournament can begin in earnest.
On Tuesday, April 21, Jefferson visits the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. for the first of two regular season games between the two teams.
In Myrtle Beach, Jefferson won three of its four games and returned home with a 10-1 overall record.
Hammonton, New Jersey staged a late-game rally to deal Jefferson its first and only loss of the season, an 11-7 verdict settled by a six-run rally after the Cougars led, 7-5.
Later in the week, Jefferson defeated Westhill (New York) High, 8-2, slammed Chancellor (Virginia), 8-0, behind Bradley Davis’ shutout pitching and stopped Grainger (Tennessee), 11-0.
Washington took a 5-2 overall record to the beach and returned with a 7-4 record.
The Patriots opened tournament play by beating Nardonia (Ohio), but then lost to Bishop Grimes (New York).
After a win over Atlantic Shores Christian, the Patriots dropped their fourth and final game in South Carolina.
