Jefferson in sixth place in football ratings
Only two schools remain unbeaten in the Class AAA football ranks and they are positioned at No. 1 and No. 2 in the latest state ratings.
Cabell Midland is 6-0 and holds a 14.17 rating while Point Pleasant is also 6-0 and has a 12.33 rating.
The top 16 teams in each of the state’s three classes qualify for the playoffs that begin next month.
Three schools with one loss have positions three through five and they are defending state champion Capital, Morgantown and Huntington.
Jefferson is 4-1 and has an 11.00 rating to claim the No. 6 spot this week.
Rounding out the Top 10 in Class AAA are George Washington, Martinsburg, Wheeling Park and Brooke.
Positioned in spots 11 through 16 are Spring Valley, Princeton, John Marshall, Hurricane, Parkersburg South and Spring Mills.
The Class AA leader is Fairmont Senior with its 13.20 rating. Unbeatens Bridgeport (11.92), James Monroe (11.60), Chapmanville (11.00) and Tolsia (10.83) are currently in positions two through five.
Rounding out the Top nine in Class AA are Bluefield, Keyser, Roane County and Mingo Central.
Seven teams remain unbeaten in the Class A ranks.
Rated first this week is Man (10.80). Right behind the Hillbillies is South Harrison (10.20).
The other unbeatens are Moorefield, Magnolia, Buffalo, St. Marys and Bishop Donahue. Those teams are rated No. 3 through No. 7.
Completing the Top 10 in Class A are once-beatens Pendleton County, East Hardy and Wheeling Central Catholic.
The Top 8 teams in each class in the final ratings get to host a first-round playoff game.
The state championship games in each class are all played in Wheeling at Wheeling Island Stadium in early December.
