Scrimmage, season tickets, parking ready at Shepherd

By Staff | Aug 11, 2017

The football season opener at Shepherd will come on Saturday, Sept. 2, at noon with the Ram Stadium game to be televised on ESPN3. The broadcast is part of the season-long, 18-game, Division II Football Showcase. Notre Dame was 9-2 last season, losing 38-22 to Shepherd in Ohio.

The Rams will hold a controlled scrimmage at Ram Stadium at about 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19. There will be no admission to that event.

Season parking passes for Lot B (behind the library on campus) are now on sale for $75 each. Season parking passes for the 100-space lot now occupying the ground where Sara Cree Hall once stood are available for $125 each. All reserved parking spaces will be good for any playoff games the Rams have at home.

Season tickets are available on Aug. 11. Also, general admission season tickets will be offered for the first time this season.

Shepherd football games will move from WRNR (740AM) to WEPM (1340AM) this season. In addition to the AM broadcasts, games can also be heard on both 95.9 and 93.7 FM. Anthony Cardi will be the play-by-play announcer.

Award-winning and decades-long radio announcers Matt Miller and Vic Holmes will no longer be broadcasting the Shepherd football games.

Shepherd has another 10-game regular season schedule with all games coming against Mountain East Conference opponents.

The five home games are against Notre Dame, West Virginia State, West Liberty, Concord and Urbana.

The Rams recorded a 10-0 regular season record in 2016 and then had NCAA Division II playoff victories over Assumption, LIU Post and California before falling in the national semifinals to North Alabama before an overflow crowd of over 7,000 at Ram Stadium.
