Jefferson boys soccer stays undefeated
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Playing a schedule featuring teams from around the state as well as Maryland, the Jefferson boys soccer team has gone out to an 8-0-2 record after beating North Hagerstown, 3-0, last Saturday.
Parkersburg was tamed, 1-0, to begin the season and next came a 4-4 tie against University High of Morgantown.
After a 1-1 tie against Spring Mills, the Cougars have reeled off consecutive wins over Preston, Hedgesville, Wheeling Park, Musselman, Hampshire and North Hagerstown.
Of particular note was the 2-1 win over Wheeling Park and the 2-1 win over Hedgesville.
Other than the four goals surrendered to University, the Cougars have not been nicked for more than the two goals managed by Preston in Jefferson’s 3-2 win.
In its 10 games, Jefferson has allowed only a total of 10 goals.
John Henry Maddex has been Jefferson’s most-used goalkeeper.
Midfielders Bryce Turney and Matthew Baker have been able to help Elijah Rosario score against Musselman, Kyle Lowe get a goal in defeating Hedgesville, and Brennan King notch goals in the wins over Musselman and Hedgesville.
Will Craig, Jackson Crouse and Bobby Gianniny are senior defenders on this 2017 team. Sam Shunny is a junior defender. Charlie Lynch, Alex Hinkle, Dominik Romano, Harrison Lucas, Nik Vanderpool and Sebastion Pena-Mendez join goalkeeper Michael Fernandez as other Cougars on the team that continues undefeated through the first 10 matches.
