Bangit and Robinson show record form in large Invitational in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN — Sprinters Lorelei Bangit and Keyshawn Robinson showed record-setting form last Saturday, at the Morgantown Invitational track and field meet held in the college town.
Bangit dashed to wins in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and ran the anchor leg of the 4×100 relay team, as Jefferson High School’s girls team counted 161.5 points to outdistance runner-up Morgantown’s 130 points.
Jefferson High School’s boys totaled 154 points, in winning the meet over second-place Morgantown High School and its 108 points.
Bangit’s three individual wins and her place on a winning relay, gained the Cougars the most points of any individual athlete. Her times were 12.45 in the 100, 26.44 in the 200 and 55.97 in the 400. Jefferson’s winning time in the 4×100 relay was 50.79.
Robinson established a new school record in the 100 meters, with his time of 10.96. He also won the 200 meters and ran the anchor legs on the winning 4×100 relay team and 4×200 relay unit.

Hannah Phillips posted a win in the 800 run and was second in the 1600 distance race.
The Cougar girls won the 4×200 relay as well.
Briauna Goins threw the shot put 35-feet, in taking that event.
Jefferson finished second in the shuttle hurdles relay, the 4×400 relay, and added points when Hannah Shanley was second in the discus.
Getting third-place points for the Cougars, were Layla Phillips in the 3200, Hope Gestl in the 300 hurdles, Haley Shanley in the discus and Hannah Shanley in the shot put.

Notching an individual event win for the boys team was Justin Gottleib in the 400.
The 4×400 relay unit had a win with its time of 43.97.
Finishing second in individual events were Isaiah Fitts (400 meters) and Justin Gottleib (1600 meters). Grabbing third-place points were Caleb Shelton (100 meters), Conner Myers (800 meters), Aden Gestl (300 hurdles) and the shuttle hurdles relay team.
