MARTINSBURG — Shrugging off Jefferson’s early-game lead, the Martinsburg High School Bulldog kept alive its unbeaten season (5-0) with a lopsided 57-14 win over the Cougars, at David Walker Stadium last Friday night.
Jefferson High School is now 2-2 overall and has a home game against Hedgesville High School tonight at 7 p.m. Martinsburg has all Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference games remaining on its nine-game schedule and is set to play Musselman High School this week.
The Bulldogs quickly reversed a 7-6 Jefferson lead and then proceeded to score 51 of the game’s final 58 points.
Jefferson was limited to 142 yards of total offense while Martinsburg had 396 yards of offense.
After Sirod Musgrove’s TD run on an end around that put the Bulldogs ahead, 12-7, Martinsburg amassed its lengthy point total with three scores from Koi Fagan, Murphy Clement’s two scoring passes (one to Musgrove) and 129 rushing yards that included a 20-yard TD run, as well as an ever-stiffening defense.
