SHEPHERDSTOWN — Shepherd University had a successful volleyball season in the fall of 2024. They celebrated an unbeaten conference schedule, where the Rams never stumbled in achieving a 14-0 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) record. The overall record was 24-6.

Rewarded for the team’s overwhelming season were plenty of individuals who will be returning to the Butcher Center in 2025 looking to repeat last year’s glories.

Rylee Lenz, who was credited with 250 kills, was named a first-team All-East Division player. Sophia Ryan had 239 kills and was also named as a first-team East Division player.

With her 237 kills, Amya Davis had second-team East Division honors. Setter Macy Buso had 1,025 assists and 29 service aces and gained second-team East Division recognition.

From last year’s all-conquering team return Kiela Sanger, Emma Skibbie and Madigan Faircloth.

The league’s coaches tabbed Shepherd as the favorite to run through its conference schedule and finish in first place in the East Division.

First-time team members here in 2025 are freshmen Emily Rider, Alaina Garling, Mikayla Riehl, Ada McCoy and Paige Hansen.

Rated just behind the Rams by the East Division coaches, were second-place East Stroudsburg University and third-place Shippensburg University.

Shepherd’s first game of the 2025 season will be on Sept. 5, on the road. There will be no non-conference home games this season and the team’s first game in the Butcher Center won’t be played until Sept. 30. against Shippensburg.

Several of the last season’s seniors who helped guide the Rams to such a memorable regular season in the PSAC were Joi Fairweather (who had nine points in the season’s final match, a 3-0 loss to Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the Atlantic Regiona,l held in Erie, Pa.), Harlie Zeitz, Kierra Anderson and Sydney Babb.

Shepherd volleyball has been to the playoffs for four consecutive seasons.

Most of PSAC’s East Division coaches are on record saying the 2025 Ram version can do it again.
