Shepherd volleyball selected for this week’s Regional Tournament

SHEPHERDSTOWN — Shepherd University’s talented volleyball team has been selected to participate in one of this week’s NCAA Division II Regionals.
The Rams were seeded fifth in the eight team field. The Regional begins play with four matches on Thursday at top-seeded Gannon in Erie, Pa.
Shepherd’s quarterfinal round opponent will be fourth-seeded Pitt-Johnstown, also from the well-represented PSAC that has five teams in the field.
The following is the seeding of the eight-team field: (1) Gannon, (2) East Stroudsburg, (3) Indiana, (4) Pitt Johnstown, (5) Shepherd, (6) Fairmont, (7) Charleston and (8) Fayetteville State.
Shepherd and Pitt-Johnstown were scheduled to play at noon on Thursday, with the winner then facing the winner of the Gannon vs. Fayetteville State match on Friday in the semifinals. The tournament championship game is slated for Dec. 6.

Buso
The Rams enter post-season play with a 19-10 overall record. Pitt-Johnstown posted a 17-11 overall record.
The PSAC named its all-conference teams and placed Shepherd’s Macy Buso and Sophia Ryan on the first-team and Ada McCoy and Amya Davis on the second-team.
Shepherd’s eight players receiving the most playing time in this winning season were Emily Rider, Madigan Faircloth, Rylee Lenz, Sofia De Los Mozos, Buso, McCoy, Ryan and Ryder.
At one point in the regular season, Shepherd could point to a 19-7 overall record. The Rams lost several matches by 3-2 set scores to complete the season.
East Stroudsburg defeated Gannon in the PSAC tournament championship game, but Gannon received this tournament’s top seed for the fourth straight season.

Davis
There are eight separate Regions in this national tournament with a total of 64 teams having been selected to vie for the national championship.
The Rams also qualified this same Atlantic Regional following their stellar 2024 season.
