Faunteroy now coaching at Furman in South Carolina
Ramal Faunteroy was a defensive line coach at Shepherd. That made sense since he was a four-year letterman for the Rams as a defensive lineman.
Shepherd’s stellar records, the emergence of Howard Jones as a former Ram now playing in the NFL with Tampa Bay and Faunteroy’s experience as one of 30 NCAA coaches who got to attend NFL training camps helped him land a job at Furman University in South Carolina.
Faunteroy was hired by the Purple Paladins in time to participate in spring practice just months ago. Like his seven seasons at Shepherd, he is on the defensive side of the football, again coaching the defensive line.
A 2011 graduate of Shepherd, Faunteroy was once an assistant coach while still taking classes to get his undergraduate degree.
A native of Washington, D.C., he is married and has four children.
While coaching at Shepherd, he was an able recruiter and helped the Rams find and then successfully bring quality NCAA Division II players to the school.
