Bryan. Mercier named WVIAC senior scholar athletes
Senior forward Justin Bryan (Charles Town, WV/Jefferson) of the men’s basketball team and senior outside hitter/libero Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) of the volleyball team have been named WVIAC College Foundation of West Virginia (CFWV) Senior Scholar-Athlete award winners.
The West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) College Foundation of West Virginia (CFWV) Senior Scholar-Athlete awards honor a male and female student-athlete who has demonstrated proficiency in the classroom and as an athlete. All award winners must compile at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point averages during their playing careers.
Bryan, an accounting major, was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team, while Mercier, a sport communication/marketing major, was a four-year starter for the volleyball team. Both Bryan and Mercier were named to the 2011-12 WVIAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll as Shepherd’s scholar-athletes and were selected as D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winners.
The pair was recognized last Friday at the WVIAC Basketball Tournament.
