Moore to play in All-Star game
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today that senior forward Chad Moore (Winchester, VA/John Handley) of the Shepherd University men’s basketball team will participate in the 2013 Reese’s Division II College All-Star game. Moore is the first Shepherd player selected for this honor.
The Reese’s Division II College All-Star game will be played on Friday, March 29, at 7 p.m. (EDT), in conjunction with the NCAA Division II Elite Eight at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky. The teams are composed of two senior student-athletes from each of the eight regions in Division II nominated by coaches and four at-large selections.
The NCAA Division II quarterfinals are set for Thursday, March 28, with the semifinals on Saturday at Freedom Hall. This year’s NCAA Division II championship game will be played at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 7. The game is being played in Atlanta as the NCAA celebrates 75 years of March Madness.
The Reese’s All-Star game will feature a pair of outstanding former coaches in Division II. Former University of Central Oklahoma coach Jim Seward will lead the West team, while former Southern Connecticut State University coach Art Leary will coach the East team.
Moore leads the WVIAC in scoring and is ranked eighth nationally with a 22.9 points per game average. He also averaged 9.0 rebounds (ranked tied for 30th in NCAA II) and 2.52 steals (ranked 13th in NCAA II).
