McCauley drafted by the Cubs
Senior pitcher Josh McCauley (Mercersburg, PA/James Buchanan) of the Shepherd University baseball team has been drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 21st round of the Major League Baseball draft.
McCauley posted a 2-3 mark for the Rams this year with a 4.50 ERA. He fanned 28 and walked 10 in 26 innings of action.
“It is great to be with family and friends at this time,” noted McCauley. “I will remember this for the rest of my life. This is something I dreamed about since I was a little kid. I am thankful the Cubs gave me this opportunity.”
McCauley joins Nathan Minnich ’12 (an eighth round pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2012) as the only Shepherd baseball players to be selected in the draft after playing for the Rams.
