Shepherd announces soccer captains
Shepherd University head men’s and women’s soccer coach Jonathan Thayil recently announced the team captains for the 2013 season. Senior forward Kevin Doyle (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) and junior defender Max Psillas (Hagerstown, MD/North Hagerstown) will serve as captains for the men?s team, while senior defender/midfielder Erika Martin (Germantown, MD/Northwest), senior defender /goalkeeper Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point) and junior midfielder Kasey Canterbury (Berryville, VA/Clarke County) will captain the women?s squad.
Doyle, an honorable mention All-WVIAC choice in 2012, started in all 19 games. He tallied three goals (all game-winners) on the year.
Psillas started in all 19 games last season. He had one assist on the season. Psillas helped anchor a defense the recorded eight shutouts on the year.
Martin, a second team All-WVIAC choice last season, started in all 18 games. She had one assist last season. Martin helped anchor a defense that posted seven shutouts and allowed only one goal on five occasions in 2012.
Eagan, also a standout on the Shepherd women’s lacrosse team, started in all 18 games last year. She recorded one goal and an assist on the year.
Canterbury, a first team All-WVIAC selection in 2012, started in all 18 games. She recorded three goals and three assists last season. Canterbury was second on the team in scoring and assists.
