Shepherd announces basketball signups
With the beginning of the fall term at Shepherd, men’s basketball coach Justin Namolik has announced the signing of four new players for the 2015-16 season.
Namolik said the four recruits will join with eight returning players from last season.
Winston Burgess is a 6-foot-6 forward who played at Colonial Forge High School in Virginia. Colonial Forge was the Virginia 6A state champion in both 2014 and 2015.
Matt Seip is a 6-foot-6 forward from Lower Dauphin High School in Pennsylvania.
Marcus Adkison is a point guard from St. Andrews, a private school in Virginia. The incoming 5-foot-11 freshman joins several other point guards already returning to the Shepherd roster.
Austin Shields was a one-year starter at Washington High in Jefferson County. The 6-foot-3 forward was injured for part of the 2014-15 high school season.
Most of Shepherd’s returning firepower is in the front court where Ryan McTavish, Gavin McTavish, Naim Muhammad and A.J. Carr were major contributors last season.
This will be the third season for the Mountain East Conference, meaning its champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Regional. The Rams will have a 22-game conference schedule, playing the other 11 member schools in a home-and-away, two-game series.
