Shepherd football signs initial group of 18
Coming off two consecutive unbeaten regular seasons and a overall, two-year record of 27-2, Shepherd football has announced an initial group of 18 recruits signed officially on Feb. 1.
The first group of Shepherd recruits has 10 players from high schools in Maryland, four from Virginia, two brothers from Delaware, one from Georgia and one from Washington, D.C.
Dillon Clary is a cornerback from Theodore Roosevelt High in Washington, D.C., John Kelly is a offensive tackle who played in Mundy’s Mill, Georgia. Both Eli Hutchinson and Josh Hutchinson are linebackers from Smyrna, Delaware.
From Virginia high schools are defensive lineman Noah Crutchfield from Western Albemarle High, linebacker Zion Johnson from C.D. Hylton High, tight end Matt Young from Riverbend and free safety Eric Jones from Brentsville High.
The players from Maryland are linebacker Chrys Lane from Dundalk High, wide receiver Chris Butler from Montgomery Blair, linebacker Ponce Deleon from Montgomery Blair, free safety Terrell Blount from Riverdale Baptist High and kicker Hayden August from Quince Orchard High.
Terrell Hawkins is a wide receiver from Gwynn Park, Cody Williams is a wide receiver from Largo, Ty Hebron is a tight end from Richard Montgomery, Brian Walker is a tight end from Clarksburg and Cortae Williams is a wide receiver from Tuscarora High.
These 18 players will be joined by other signees before the Rams begin late-summer practice for the 10-game, 2017 season in August.
