Alvin A. Jones

Alvin Arthur Jones, 76, died unexpectedly on May 26, 2023, at the Reston Hospital Center in Reston Va. He was born in Takoma Park, Maryland, the son of Alvin E. Jones and Adelaide F. Jones.

Alvin graduated from BCC High School in Bethesda, MD and subsequently served in Thailand during the Viet Nam War. After the war he attended Shepherd College in WV. He married the love of his life, Ellen (Stancliff) Jones who served along with him on the US Capitol Police until his retirement shortly after Ellen’s passing.

Alvin will be best known for his dedication, loyalty and generosity to all of his many friends. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Jones-Callahan and her husband James Callahan, a niece, Kendra Hansen and a large extended family that included his beloved God daughter, Ellen Diane Petersen.

Plans for a memorial gathering will be announced shortly. His remains will be interred alongside his beloved wife, Ellen in a private ceremony.
