Bonnie L. Vanorsdale

Mar 18, 2024

Bonnie Lou Vanorsdale, sadly passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 78 after a brief battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D Vanorsdale Sr.

Bonnie was born on June 12, 1945, and was named after Bonnie Blue from the movie Gone With The Wind by her parents, Evelyn Naomi (Orr) Johnson and Amos Clifford Johnson (Native American name Cherboar).

She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community and her church. There are many who will miss her daily Facebook posts wishing everyone a good night or wonderful day. She was almost always the first to like any of her friends or family’s posts.

She was first and foremost a family woman and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with everything she had. All knew they were welcome at Mamaw’s house. She is survived by her brother Kenny; her two sons: John (and Stacy), and Jeremy (and Jennifer); her five grandchildren: Jackie (and Robert), Jacob (and Chelsea), Jordan, Jade, and Dawson; and her three great-grandchildren: Emersyn, Holden, and Atlas.

Bonnie worked as a waitress for the Blue White Grill in downtown Martinsburg during her children’s pre-school years and then at Crown Cork and Seal. She then worked for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher until she started the job she would retire from at 7-11. She developed many relationships with the college students and community at the Shepherdstown 7-11 and was “Mamaw” to them as well.

Visitation will be held at the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, 36 Laing Drive, Martinsburg, WV 25404 from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024. Funeral services will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home, 917 Cemetery Road, Martinsburg, WV 25404 at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
